As an initiative to explore the viability of geodesic dome construction in the urban environment, Konar Architects undertook the design and construction of a small timber framed dome structure that would serve as a greenhouse for the growing of vegies’ year round. The geodesic form has proven successful as a highly efficient spatial form maximising volume for a minimum investment in materials and surface area. This resultant dome constructed over a number of weekends is now being used and enjoyed by it’s habitants. Konar Architects can assist with the design and construction of GeoDomes for any interested clients.
